I spent a lovely weekend exploring Herefordshire’s Golden valley as well as fitting in a trip to Hay on Wye. On my travels, I had decided that Kilpeck church was to be one of the main places to visit having seen that amazing doorway on a map cover. Luckily, the weather was kind and when I got there, the door was in full sun, which helped to pick out the detail on the incredible carvings, as well as on the fantastic figures on the outside. Venturing inside the interior was in beautiful condition this church is regarded as one of England’s finest and most complete Norman churches. Outside there are a few ruins of the castle that once stood on the motte. Exploring over I went to the Kilpeck arms a few hundred yards away for a bite to eat and a drink, I can highly recommend both.
